New Books December/January

Here’s a visual list of our new titles.

Isabel Quintero’s Gabi, a Girl in Pieces is so good. Gabi’s voice is universal, while her situation is very specific, and readers will be richer for experiencing the world through her eyes. So glad this made it to the top of the reading pile. The ending didn’t make me cry, but it was close. If I Ever Get Out of Here by Eric Gansworth was worth staying up late to finish. Separated from his Onondaga Nation peers, Lewis makes a great friend, but also enemies: a bully and institutional racism in ‘70s NY state.

Abdi Nazemian’s The Authentics was great.⠀Daria has grown up in “Tehrangeles,” steeped in Persian culture, but she learns something about her family that turns her life upside-down. There were tears.
